In this video Andrea discusses themes and techniques used in her painting Where She’s Been and talks about her own encaustic journey over the past nine years.
Techniques that Andrea mentions include ironing, dripping, gouging, layering and using the grid for encaustic painting. Andrea points to various collage elements embedded in the wax: organic elements such as flowers, ferns and sticks, found objects such as old rusted metal and barbed wire, photographs particularly the photo of a woman walking across a horizon line that became the focal point of the piece.
